암기는 잘못하지만 언어학습을 좋아하는 저로서도 한가지 극복해야할 과제가 있습니다. 리스닝이 쉽지 않은것 같아요. 영화나 미드를 보고나면 안들리는 부분이 많은것 같습니다. 이부분을 극복하기 위해 다양한 방법론을 접했고, 다음 유투브강좌에서 해법을 어느정도 찾았습니다.

(따로 시간을 내서 몰아서 공부하지 말고 출퇴근 시간에 짬짬이 공부하라. 대신 매일매일)

어려운 책 말고 500단어짜리 스토리북을 추천했고요(저는 책 뿐아니라 영화 드라마 등으로 확장할 수 있다고 봅니다. 이 경우에는 1,2번 진행시 현지어 자막을 켜놓고 봐야겠죠.) 이런식으로 6개월간 3권의 책을 외운다면 듣기 1%에 들 수 있다고 합니다. 저는 영어 뿐 아니라 총 5개 국어를 마스터하는게 목적이기 때문에 현재 베트남어 학습에 이 이론을 적용하고 있습니다. 다만 제 방식으로 좀 변형을 했고요. Golf를 배울때 코치님이 하셨던 말씀을 적용해서 다음과 같이 하고 있습니다. 

1. 스윙이 완성될때 까지는 공도 절대 치지 마라.

2. 공을 잘 칠 수 있기전까지는 필드에 절대 나가지 않는다.

베트남에는 성조가 6개나 있습니다. 성조가 너무 생소해서 제가 하노이에 출장을 6개월이나  갔지만 기본 문장외에는 한계가 금방 오더라구요. 위에 언급한 기초가 부족한 까닭입니다. 스윙을 하루만 배우고 바로 필드에 나간 격이죠. 

실패를 교훈삼아 이번에는 기본 알파벳과 성조에 충분한 시간을 투여했습니다. 그리고, 기초가 중요하다고 말씀은 드렸지만 스펠링 자체에 너무 집착하지는 마시기 바랍니다. 

2018년 11월 18일부터 베트남어 학습을 시작했고, 오히려 선생님이 알파벳은 금방 건너띄고 진도를 나가려고 하길래, 제가 설득을 했고, 제 방식을 고집했습니다. 영어, 인도네시아, 일본어를 배웠을때 제 경험을 생각해보니 알파벳 학습시간이 하루밖에 안됐죠. 그러다보니 중급, 고급 과정으로 갈수록 리스닝이 계속 발목을 잡게됩니다. 발음에도 한계가 올 수밖에 없고요. 1월 6일경 책덮고 선생님에의 발음을 받아 적었습니다. 성조를 포함해서 100% 다 맞췄습니다. 너무 기쁘더군요. 단어 몇개 더외우고, 책 진도 나가는것보다 기초가 중요하다는 점 다시한번 강조드립니다. 아직은 제 학습이 진행형이지만 베트남어가 중급 혹은 고급단계에 다다르면 동일한 이론을 인도네시아어에 적용하고, 그다음 영어에도 적용할 예정입니다.

(참고로, 제 인도네시아어 실력은 말하기는 거의 고급이라고 봐도 무방할듯합니다. 자카르타 출장갔을때 영어로 얘기하다가 나중에는 프리젠테이션할때 그냥 인도네시아어로도 진행했습니다. 현지직원분들이 너무 좋아하더군요ㅋ.  다만, 듣기는 대화는 가능하나,,,한계를 많이 느낍니다. 특히 택시기사분들과 얘기할때는 50%도 못알아 듣겠어요. 제가 말을 잘하니까 당연히 이해하겠지 싶은가봅니다. 무지 빠르고 길게 얘기하는데, ㅋ 영어는 회화, 업무회의까지 다 경험했고, 대다수의 한국인보다 잘하지만, 영화볼때 여전히 못듣는 부분이 꽤 있습니다. 이부분이 제 극복 과제입니다.)

베트남어, 인도네시아어, 영어 그다음 일본어, 마지막으로 태국어까지 유창하게 할 수 있게 되면 그 노하우를 무료로 혹은 아주 적은 비용(수익추구가 아닌 소요경비 해소차원)으로 여러 필요한 사람들에게 교육해드릴 큰그림도 가지고 있습니다. 어학에 막연한 두려움을 가지신 분들이 많거든요. 특히 SI개발자 분들이요. 저는 기본적으로 어학도 프로그래밍 언어랑 다를게 없다고 생각합니다. 황수남 원장님이 수학도 어학이랑 같다고 하신 말씀처럼요.
